Answering your Questions

Mrs. Nichol e-mailed me a picture of your snow globes! They looked awesome! I could tell which were from Canada and which were from Australia. You are really learning a lot! I answered some of your questions for you...

Sydney, we wonder what a gum tree is, does it give gum to you?

Read the information on this link to help teach you about a gum tree! Gum Trees are often used in songs that children from Australia sing, I included a popular song to!

Do you celebrate Christmas eve and if so when is it?

We celebrate Christmas Eve just like you on the night before Christmas. What do you and your family do for Christmas Eve? Do you have any special traditions?

Can you tell use about some of the animals, especially the white boomers from the video! What are they!!!!!

Here is a link to learn about some of our special animals!

http://discoverykids.com/games/australia-zoo/

A white boomer is a kangaroo who is white!!

What does Santa's sleigh look like? Or what does he drive?
Santa's sleigh is the same no matter what country he is in, but in Australia do you think he needs to use the ski's on his sleigh?

How do you find the grocery stores there?

We have grocery stores just like you!! Same with presents, we have shopping malls and stores like Walmart! We also have many local stores to shop in, in our towns!

We don't all celebrate Christmas...

Hi Grade 1/2's!!!

I learned something so cool this week and I can not wait to share with you!! Did you know that in Australia not all people celebrate Christmas! Some celebrate something called Hanukkah. I mailed a book to your teacher so you can learn a little bit about this holiday. Can you share what you learned so we can compare notes? I wonder how you will share it...

Hi Silly Sydney,

We found out which globes were from Canada and which were from Australia. We knew because Santa had a different outfit on. We created our own snow globes, one from Canada and one from Australia. We knew that ones from Australia had no snow.

Sydney, we wonder what a gum tree is, does it give gum to you?

Do you celebrate Christmas eve and if so when is it?

Can you tell use about some of the animals, especially the white boomers from the video! What are they!!!!!

What does Santa's sleigh look like? Or what does he drive?

How do you find the grocery stores there?

What kind of food do you eat?

Where do you shop for presents?

Watch the video and then create a snow globe that looks like it came from Australia. Use the words from the song to get ideas to include in your globe!!

Can you tell which snow globes came from Canada and which ones came from Australia?
